9 Weekly Sessions Available
At Jump for Joy Farm, we strive to create healthy, symbiotic relationships between kids and nature, and to impart practical experience, real skills, respect for, and unfettered enjoyment of plant life, animals, and the great outdoors.
Each one-week summer day camp session is built upon a foundation of 4 main program elements:
- traditional camp activities,
- horse care* and farm animal husbandry,
- forest, wetland, and farm ecology,
- organic agriculture and urban homesteading.
Each weekly session revolves around its own farmtastic theme that provides the storyline to the main program elements. Themes are general enough to accommodate the interests of each child and specific enough to present various theme-related learning opportunities. Note that regardless of the theme, a similar amount of time is dedicated to handling and caring for animals every week.
Jump for Joy Farm programming is designed to provide novel learning opportunities for those new to our community, while allowing seasoned participants to build on previous knowledge and relationships.
We work in partnership with the 4H and OSU Extension Services, among others, incorporating superb and time tested curriculum and training techniques into Jump for Joy Farm’s own science, nature, gardening, equine, and animal husbandry programs.
Jump for Joy Farm takes safety seriously and vets only the most creative, experienced and competent staff.
* Note: Although all Farmtastic Camps include some activities caring for horses, they do not include actual horse riding activities. We offer separate horse lessons and camps throughout the school year and during the summer.
